At Harvest Christian Academy, we approach Science, the systematic study of the structure and behavior of the physical and natural world through observation and experiment a little differently. We view science through the magnifying glass of God’s Word.
We believe God is the creator of the Universe and the unseen author of the Holy Scriptures, the ultimate source of truth. We call this the direct route to knowledge, because we co-operate fully with The Creator and His Word as we explore and examine nature, the universe and creation, all the work of His hands. Is there any more intelligent way to examine a product than to study the manufacturer’s literature?
We facilitate the process of students both recognizing and seeing the countless evidences of God’s foreknowledge, deep wisdom, thoughtfulness, love and power everywhere, as we observe the universe through science. At Harvest, we design many opportunities for students to use higher order thinking skills in exploring the world of science.
Science has direct relevance and application to our daily lives and various other academic disciplines. Our aim is to advance science by helping these budding engineers and scientists gain productive knowledge and skills necessary for scientific inquiry, equipping them to both handle and solve the difficult scientific and engineering problems of the future.
Biblical as well as contemporary scientists, inventors and problem solvers who credit their success to their relationship with God, are also introduced as an inspiration to our students. For example Daniel, a biblical character with a strong relationship to God was given divine assistance in solving many of the mysteries and insurmountable questions of his day.
Dr. George Washington Carver the famous Black American scientist, inventor are among the many examples studied to serve as role-models and inspiration to our students that a deep and a close walk with God is neither a contradiction nor deterrent to scientific exploits and achievement. Scientists do not have to be atheists to excel.
“O LORD, our Lord, How excellent is Your name in all the earth, Who have set Your glory above the heavens! When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit[c] him?” Psalms 8:1, 3-4 NKJV
